How to Hang Wall Art at the Perfect Height

Art placement is the difference between a room that feels curated and one that feels chaotic. While most people choose a height based on gut feeling, the secret to a professional look lies in the 57-inch rule, which aligns the center of your art with the average human sightline. Getting this right elevates the entire space, grounding your furniture and creating a cohesive focal point that draws the eye naturally. Achieving the perfect hang requires precision, not guesswork. By accounting for the distance between the hanging hardware and the top of the frame, you ensure your artwork sits exactly where it belongs. 1. Find Your Eye Level Mark. Measure 57 to 60 inches from the floor and mark this height lightly with a pencil. This is your target center line for the middle of the artwork.
