How to Conceal TV Cables Inside Your Wall
Cables are the enemy of a clean living space, turning a high-end wall-mounted television into an eyesore of hanging wires. The goal of this project is to tuck those unsightly cords inside the wall cavity, leaving nothing visible between your screen and your media console. Achieving a professional finish requires more than just cutting holes; it requires an understanding of fire safety and wall structure. You will be using a specialized pass-through kit designed for this purpose, which ensures that your power connections remain safe and compliant with building codes while providing a seamless, flush look for your entertainment setup.
- Find Your Stud Path First. Identify the studs behind your TV mounting location using a stud finder. Mark two spots—one behind the TV and one behind your media console—ensuring both are between the same two studs.
- Slice Holes with Caution. Trace the template provided in your cable management kit onto the wall at your marked spots. Use a drywall saw to cut the holes, moving slowly to avoid cutting any hidden electrical wires or plumbing.
- Lock Down Your Brackets. Insert the cable pass-through brackets into the holes you cut. Tighten the screws on the bracket until the wings pull firmly against the back of the drywall to lock them in place.
- Drop Cables Through Wall. Lower your HDMI and auxiliary cables from the top hole down to the bottom hole. Use a fish tape or a weighted string to grab the cables if they are difficult to reach.
- Route Power Safely First. Feed the power cord through the specialized power-rated pass-through kit included in your wall concealment system. Never run standard power cords through the wall without a dedicated in-wall rated kit, as this violates fire codes.
- Cover and Conceal. Snap or screw the decorative cover plates onto the brackets you installed earlier. Tidy up any excess slack in the cables and ensure they are neatly tucked behind your media console.
