Construir um canteiro elevado de madeira

Raised beds are the most efficient way to maximize your harvest in your own garden and spare your back. The layered construction of the filling materials creates a natural decomposition process that generates heat and provides valuable nutrients to the plants throughout the entire season. A well-built raised bed is more than just a wooden box; it is a well-thought-out ecosystem. Pay attention to the choice of wood and clean construction so that the side walls can withstand the pressure of the earth for years. Those who carry out this project cleanly will invest less time in weeding and significantly more time in the joy of gardening.

  1. Encontrar o local e nivelar o solo. Choose a sunny location and mark out the area. Remove the turf and level the ground with a spirit level so that the raised bed stands stable later.
  2. Instalar proteção contra toupeiras. Cover the bottom of the raised bed with closely meshed aviary wire. Fasten the wire to the inside of the planned side walls to permanently keep rodents out.
  3. Cortar e aparafusar a estrutura. Saw the squared timbers and planks to the desired length. Connect the corners with stable posts and use at least two weather-resistant screws for each connection.
  4. Aplicar película interior. Staple a robust studded membrane to the inside of the walls. Leave the bottom edge open so that excess water can drain unhindered into the garden soil.
  5. Iniciar a construção em camadas. Fill the raised bed from bottom to top: start with coarse tree and shrub cuttings, followed by a layer of leaves or grass clippings. These coarse materials ensure ventilation.
  6. Encher com húmus e terra para plantas. Fill the remaining 30 to 40 centimeters with high-quality compost. Water the soil thoroughly immediately after filling so that it settles.
