How to Make Your Bed Look Like a Luxury Hotel

Create a hotel-quality bed by layering high thread count sheets, adding multiple pillows, using a duvet with crisp hospital corners, and finishing with a decorative throw.

  1. Lay Your Foundation Right. Use sheets with at least 300 thread count in white or neutral colors. Pull the fitted sheet taut across all corners, eliminating wrinkles. Place the flat sheet face-down so the finished edge shows when folded back.
  2. Fold Crisp Corners Fast. Tuck the flat sheet under the mattress at the foot of the bed. Grab the sheet hanging over the side about 12 inches from the foot, lift it to create a 45-degree angle, then tuck the hanging portion under the mattress. Lower the angled part and tuck it under smoothly. Repeat on both sides.
  3. Balance the Duvet Evenly. Shake out your duvet to distribute filling evenly. Lay it on the bed with equal overhang on both sides and slightly more length at the foot than the head. The top should hit about 8 inches below your pillows when they're in place.
  4. Stack Pillows Like a Pro. Start with two sleeping pillows against the headboard in matching cases. Add two decorative euro shams behind them, then place two smaller accent pillows in front. Fluff each pillow by punching the center and smoothing the sides to create that plump hotel look.
  5. Fold Back in One Motion. Fold the flat sheet and duvet back together in one crisp line about 12-16 inches from the head of the bed. The sheet edge should peek out above the duvet by about 2-3 inches. Smooth both layers to eliminate any wrinkles or bumps.
  6. Smooth and Style. Place a decorative throw blanket across the foot of the bed, either folded neatly or casually draped. Smooth the entire bed surface with your hands, working from head to foot to remove any remaining wrinkles or air pockets.
