How to Replace a Kitchen Sink Sprayer

Replace a kitchen sink sprayer by disconnecting the old sprayer head and hose from under the sink, then connecting the new sprayer components in reverse order.

  1. Stop Water Flow First. Locate the shut-off valves under your sink and turn them clockwise to stop water flow. Turn on the faucet to drain any remaining water from the lines.
  2. Unscrew the Sprayer Head. Unscrew the sprayer head from the hose by turning it counterclockwise. If it's stuck, use pliers with a cloth to protect the finish. Pull the hose up through the sink deck hole.
  3. Sever the Hose Connection. Crawl under the sink and locate where the sprayer hose connects to the faucet body or water supply. Use an adjustable wrench to disconnect this connection, turning counterclockwise.
  4. Free the Old Assembly. From underneath the sink, unscrew the mounting nut that holds the sprayer hose guide in place on the sink deck. This allows you to pull the entire old assembly out from above.
  5. Set the New Guide. Insert the new sprayer hose guide through the sink deck hole from above. Thread the mounting nut onto the guide from underneath and tighten with pliers until snug.
  6. Attach Supply Connection. Thread the new sprayer hose down through the guide and connect it to the faucet body or water supply connection point under the sink. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench to snug it up another quarter turn.
  7. Secure the Sprayer Head. Screw the new sprayer head onto the hose end by turning clockwise until tight. Make sure any washers or seals are properly positioned.
  8. Verify No Leaks. Turn the water supply back on and test the sprayer function. Check for leaks at all connection points and adjust tightness as needed.
